November was National Career Day month, and the Renee Montgomery Foundation Hosted its first annual career day with an array of elite guest speakers.

The Renee Montgomery Foundation collaborated with the UCONN Werth Innovators students to bring a diverse knowledge of career opportunities and the triumphs and challenges of choosing a career.

Amy Oraefo, owner and founder of Amy Oraefo, P.C., a boutique law firm, Josiah Johnson Josiah, a versatile creative in traditional, new, social media and is also a writer and producer on Netflix’s highly anticipated limited series on Colin Kaepernick, Colin in Black & White, released in 2021. Nachette Montgomery Short, a retail pharmacist in WV for a Major retail market, and Shelly Omilâdè Bell, a serial entrepreneur and founder of Her most recent disruption, Black Girl Ventures Foundation. We also heard from the sponsor Chelsea Harris, a representative of NextGen Mogul, a sponsor of the event, about the benefit of the free subscriptions.

At the end of the event, the participants learned about a $1500 Last Yard Scholarship. There will be two winners, and the Werth Innovators have decided to match the winner’s scholarship
